Hudson-Creative – a project to develop a makerspace for the Mid-Hudson region located in Hudson, NY.

Hudson-Creative is a non-profit community-based start-up organization that will provide workspaces, equipment and a collaborative atmosphere for the creation of fine art, functional art, and crafts, and from making single custom items to creating small series manufacturing.

Hudson-Creative will provide affordable opportunities to create almost anything. Our mission is to make craft a part of life for everyone, from the complete beginner to the expert. We will have tools for electronics, woodworking, metalworking, welding, sewing, robotics, and many forms of design, repair and restoration. People of all ages are welcome.

Hudson-Creative will also act as a teaching and learning center for the community to learn new skills and improve existing skills. It will support and strengthen new and existing entrepreneurial businesses, including “start-ups”, and small businesses.

Hudson-Creative is a “Creativity Space”, with many comparisons to “Makerspaces” and “Hackerspaces”. These combine manufacturing equipment, community, and education for the purposes of enabling community members to design, prototype and create works that wouldn’t be possible to create with the resources available to individuals alone.

Hudson-Creative is conducting a market study to assess the feasibility of a creativity space; How many people will participate, what opportunities they will need, and how often they would use Hudson-Creative.
